The CP system consist
of automatic equipment for centralized power factor correction
of loads.
The total power of each equipment is divided in several banks
which are managed by reactive power factor relay. The latter
of these, sensitive to variations in the reactive power, connects
or diconnects the banks thereby maintaining the power factor
of the system at the desired value.
Centralized power factor correction of the loads is the optimum
solution for the problem of low power factor.
The unit should be equiment with either fuses or a magnetothermic
breaker at the beginning of the power supply line in order
to protect the system. In addition, an earth fault protection
should be provided on the system to be corrected.
